Main features:

3-way ball valve can be with T type and L type. With different ball working position, while cutoff other pipe flow , T type ball valve can connect 3 orthogonal pipe flows, or 2 perpendicular pipe flows. So for mixing flows or diversion of flow, T Type ball valve can be used. But for L type floating ball valve only can be used for distribution of flow, it connect 2 orthogonal pipe flows while the 3rd one is blocked.
